MiniSalt, JustSalt, or IntelliChlor: which salt system should you choose?

The right salt system depends on the pool volume, the desired salt concentration, the desired level of automation, and the equipment already installed.

A saltwater pool is still a chlorinated pool

The generator transforms dissolved salt in the water into chlorine. It therefore automates disinfection, but does not replace water testing, pH control, filtration, or cell maintenance.

JustSalt adds Bluetooth connectivity with the ePool app. Depending on the configuration, you can view the temperature, salt level, pH monitoring, and cell lifespan, and adjust chlorine production.

It also retains the two salinity modes, 125% Boost, and automatic polarity reversal to limit calcium buildup.

New Pentair product to watch

IntelliChlor Plus & LT: the new Pentair generation

Pentair has introduced a new family of salt chlorine generators: IntelliChlor LT15, LT25, Plus30, Plus40 and Plus60. Full Canadian availability may vary by model and shipments, but this range could play an important role in our recommendations during the season.

The new features announced by Pentair include:

• modular design with simplified replacement of the electronics and sensors;
• redesigned conductivity sensor for more accurate salt readings;
• LCD/LED display with more than 20 integrated diagnostics and warnings;
• acid cleaning kit included with the units;
• direct replacement for several older IntelliChlor and iChlor cells without plumbing modifications;
• compatibility with the IntelliChlor Power Center and several Pentair automation systems;
• SmartSense on the new generation to adjust production according to certain conditions when connected to compatible equipment.

Important point: Pentair now indicates an ideal salinity of approximately 3,600 ppm for this new family, which clearly distinguishes it from MOOV's Low Salt approach.

MOOV or Pentair: the real differences

Do not size the cell exactly to the limit

An oversized cell is not a problem: it can simply operate at a lower percentage. Conversely, a cell operating constantly at maximum capacity may lack reserve during a heat wave, after heavy swimming, or when the water is very warm.

We therefore prefer to keep a reasonable margin between the actual pool volume and the system's stated maximum capacity.

Cell maintenance remains essential

Regardless of the brand, watch for calcium deposits and clean the cell only when necessary with a suitable product. The Pristiva Salt Cell Cleaner is designed for this maintenance.
